Still not over peplum. Can you believe that?
Peplum was a trend eons ago. Truth is, I don’t think I’ll ever let go of it. I find it the most flattering for my figure. Although I have quite a small waist relative to my body shape, I feel like it helps to create the illusion of a more cinched-in waist line that I can’t hate. Peplum is one of those I-made-an-effort-with-this-outfit-but-I-really-didn’t type of looks. I love how flattering they are with these jeans that I got altered and they fit me perfectly.
Allow me to digress from the peplum-loving talk. My friend Loretta was taking these pictures of me and she keeps mentioning that I’ve come such a long way in this little snippet of my life called fashion. Would you believe that the only sleeve I would wear in my teens and early 20’s was 3/4 to long sleeves? I have quite big arms and stretch marks so I was always in a constant battle with myself to hide them. Even on the hottest of days I used to wear long-sleeved tops because I felt unpretty with stretch marks running down my arms. Fast forward to a few years later when I realised that I was probably the only person with the problem. Since then, I do wear sleeveless tops quite often, and I’m not ashamed to show my arms. After all, it is my body, right? Eleanor Roosevelt once said that no one should make you feel inferior without your consent.
Don’t be afraid to try out things outside your comfort zone. After all, no one is ever remembered for what they didn’t do, but for the risks they took.
