HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS!
I sure do hope you all had a great start to the New Year.
It’s been aaagggeeessss since my last post. I know. I won’t even give any excuses. Life happened. Plus, I thought I’d go AWOL on the blog a little, think it through and figure out the direction I want it to take. But that’s a story for another day.
I’d initially planned on having a New Year’s Eve series of posts, but then I thought I’d go ahead and just share what I wore instead, which is sort of one of the outfits I was going to share in the series anyway. If that makes any sense. I’d worked all through to Chrismas Eve and New Year’s Eve, so you can imagine that I’m more or less a zombie at the moment. Planning to take a much needed break soon though.
Anyway, somehow, if you’re on Pinterest (be sure to follow me here, by the way) like me, don’t you notice that every time the year comes to an end, most outfits pictures posted on there are usually sparkly, sequin-y, shiny outfits? I’d been thinking of ways to make a statement with my New Year’s Eve outfit even though I had no plans until the last minute like the procrastinator I am, I knew that the outfit I was going to wear had to consist of a tutu. Well, tutus are also called tulle skirts, but tutu sounds more fun, no? I’ve obsessed over tutus over the last few months that I knew I just had to get myself one. Thank my lucky stars my dear friend by way of her brand Pure Maiden made me one and I managed to get it just in time. When I got the skirt, I knew it would go oh-so perfectly well with a statement necklace I received from Indulgence Africa not too long before. How about making a statement with both a skirt and necklace, hey?
I don’t think you can do any wrong with a tutu. Not at least if you know how to work your way around it and style it in a way that flatters your body the most. I chose to get mine in an A-line, midi design, just to accentuate and cinch in my waist. It’s an added plus that it hid the food baby that came after having dinner that night. Lol. Win-win situation.
Necklace – c/o Indulgence Africa
Top – H&M
Skirt – Pure Maiden
Heels – ASOS
Cuff – Gifted
Now, I remember that I once said I’d never wear all-black outfits, but, time changes, and so has my dislike for black-on-black outfits. I could actually wear an all-black outfit, but so long as I wear something else to add a pop of colour, like my lipstick in this case. The heels are also a recent buy, and also my current favourite. Never thought I’d last in 4” heels for more than 5 hours but I did!
*insert personal happy dance here* Haha.
Hope you’re all keeping well!
