Never thought I’d love liquid lipsticks until now.
I’m sure you all know by now how much I love lipsticks. I’ve blogged about lipsticks and my obsession with them a few times on this little internet space of mine. Ever since I wore my first red lipstick, I never turned back. I embraced my big lips fully. I love them so much now that I pretty much wear lipstick on a daily basis. You all know my love for MAC’s matte lipsticks, but I thought I’d try my hand at liquid lipsticks. They’ve been all the rage for quite sometime now, so I figured, how would I get onto the liquid lipstick bandwagon without breaking the bank? If you love watching YouTube videos like me and follow a lot of beauty bloggers and vloggers, then you may have heard of ColourPop Cosmetics. ColourPop is an American brand that carries a very affordable range of lipsticks. They cost $6, approximately KES.600. However, I’ll include a disclaimer and say that I did not buy them and have them shipped here, rather, I discovered an online store via Instagram through Kurly Kichana, accessories_trend. Needless to say, that’s where I’ve bought all my ColourPop lippies. They cost KES. 1400. Not too bad, considering I didn’t have to buy online and have them shipped here-which would cost me a lot more- or buy them and send them to someone and have to wait upto months to receive my goodies.
What I’m trying to say is, I’ve worn at least one of these lipsticks every week since I got them (I bought them at different times). Let’s start…
The website describes this colour as a dusty mauve burgundy. Let me tell you guys how in love I am with this colour. I kept looking at it on the website and thinking to myself how perfect the colour would be to wear to work. Lately, I’m into dark, vampy lips, and pinky/brown nudes. I thought about the lipstick for about 2 weeks and finally gave in and got it. Best decision I made two weeks ago. Oh, the little things in life!
How would I rate this?
Colour Pigmentation: 10/10. One coat of this would do. Although as a woman of colour, I highly recommend a lip pencil, just to help it last longer and create a good outline of the lips.
Consistency: 7/10. The lipstick is liquid, so I highly recommend that you are very careful during application as it can dry pretty quick. Also, be sure to hold the tube upright when applying. I was absentminded when applying it last week and the bottle tipped over and I spilled a drop of the lipstick on my passenger seat. Now my car has a pink stain on it. Bummer.
Lasting power: 9/10. The lipstick pretty much stays on all day without me having to reapply it, though with this cold my lips tend to get drier than usual, so I moisturise with a bit of lip balm. It’s a win, considering some of my work days last between 10-11 hours.
This lipstick is a deep chocolate brown. Yummy! I’d been dreaming about a brown/chocolate coloured lipstick since last year and when I got my hands on Limbo, I knew that was it. I love it! It gives me the kind of dark lip that I love without having to look vampy. I feel like it gives me that ‘take me back to the 90’s look’. I’m not sure I’d wear it to work though as I feel it could be quite bold for my skin tone, but I think it definitely works well for an edgy weekend daytime look, or a nighttime 90s look.

Colour Pigmentation: 10/10. I’m yet to find a deep chocolatey brown lipstick that I love more than this one.
Consistency: 8/10. It applies more opaque as compared to Tulle, and I luckily don’t have any drops of this one pouring out of the tube.
Lasting Power: 10/10. This lipstick lasts ALL day/night with no need to reapply. However, this is dependent on what you eat. If you have a greasy meal, then the oil from the food is bound to make the lipstick transfer and fade on your lips.
Best. Liquid. Lipstick. Yet.
True love is when you find the shade of lipstick you’ve been dreaming about for more than a year, and it manifests itself in the form of LAX by ColourPop Cosmetics. This is a very dark vampy lip, definitely right up my alley. I think I wear this most of the time, I’m playing my MAC Diva and MAC Sin lippies with this! Sorry loves, I’ll be back. Lol.
How would I rate this?
Colour Pigmentation: 10/10. Absolute. Favourite.
Consistency: 10/10. I think I’m quite good at keeping lipsticks from transferring when I go about my day, so I definitely love this. It doesn’t transfer as easily as MAC lipsticks.
Lasting Power: 10/10. This lasts and lasts and lasts and lasts. And then some.

PS- None of the lipsticks in this posts were worn with a lip pencil.
Have a great weekend!
