Since there’s no outfit post this week…
I’ll confess, I haven’t taken outfit pics in a short while, so this post will take a different turn. You know, to keep it fresh. I asked you guys on my social media to ask me anything you wanted so I could give you answers in a blog post. I’ve decided to group the questions into general categories then answer them in that way.
So here goes…
Starting a blog is really easy, all you need to do is start! Literally. Get on your PC/laptop, register with a blog host site and you’re done. Don’t forget you have to give your blog a name. Once you start, you will need to be very consistent as this is what keeps people coming back. Have good quality photos, you may also want to invest in a good quality camera, check your writing and your language, focus on a topic that interests you and you’re headed in the right direction.
How has blogging affected my life? Well, I’m glad I can share my passion for fashion (and by extension body image positivity) with lovely readers from around the world. Nothing beats the feeling of receiving sweet compliments from people who are inspired by my work and what I stand for.
Seeing ideas come to life through my blog is what motivates me, really. I love putting outfits together and sharing them with you guys, and promoting self love through that.
I bought myself a Canon 600D for my birthday, so that’s the camera I use. My sister takes my outfit photos unless otherwise stated, and all other pictures are taken by me.
Upcoming Projects & My Wardrobe
I have some projects and ideas for projects that I want to work on, so you’ll get to know those in due time.
My wardrobe at the moment is a HOT MESS. I won’t even lie. My clothes are spewing out of my closet, so I’m very ashamed of that right now. Maybe one day when I get my life together and sort out my wardrobe, I’ll share that.
DIY projects? Would you love to see more DIY projects on the blog? I’ll gladly share if you could comment below and let me know what you’d like to see.
Also, I always mention where I get my shoes from, unless I genuinely don’t remember when I got the item.
A detailed post on this has been a long time coming. I’m currently in braids, so I can’t share much about my hair at the moment. However, I will share my hair regimen in a separate post.
I’ll also share various ways that you can style your TWA. You can wear it in a free ‘fro, ‘frohawk, twist-out, braid-out, perm rod set, etc etc.
I like to keep my hair regimen simple. I don’t have very many products, but I do like to switch them up every so often so that I can use them up. I hate seeing hair products go to waste unless I absolutely hate them. I co-wash with conditioner, I use a natural shampoo bar to cleanse my hair, water to moisturise, light natural oils to seal (like extra virgin olive oil) and hair butters to twist my hair with.
I’ve been wanting to share a detailed post on this too so I’ll keep this brief.
I like to keep my facial skin care regimen simple with simple, mostly natural products. I have sensitive skin so I like products that have little to no fragrance. I make sure to drink lots of water, cleanse my face twice a day, I exfoliate once/twice a week, I try to also wear natural face masks at least once a week.
I try to eat healthy, but sometimes my sweet tooth makes me fail at this. However, keep in mind that what you put into your body could affect your skin on the outside.
My body skin care routine is pretty simple too. I moisturise my body immediately after a shower to lock in the moisture. I prefer to use cocoa butter scented lotions. Don’t know why. I make sure to apply sunscreen and use raw shea butter to moisturise parts of my body that tend to be very dry- my feet, knees and elbows.
I will address where to find pocket friendly hair and skin care products in the detailed posts.
I probably wear makeup 6 out of 7 days a week. I know, I know, not the best thing especially if you want your skin to breath, but I do like to enhance my natural beauty so…
I wear Revlon ColorStay Foundation in the shade Caramel. I’d say that’s my favourite brand of foundation. I’m biased though, because it’s the only liquid foundation brand I’ve used and have grown to love. I’m looking to expand my horizons though.
Career in Fashion?
Yes, eventually. At the moment I’m working a full time job while trying to do other things on the side, and if I change careers, you’ll definitely be the first to know!
Yes, I’ve thought of having my own clothing line. But as I always say, baby steps.
I really hope I’ve answered most of your questions in this post!
Have a great weekend.
