I used to love the rock band Kings of Leon, and thus today’s post is aptly named after the band in a play of words. I love colour blocking bright colours with a solid neutral colour just to keep myself looking put together, without trying too hard.
Have you ever bought an item of clothing or an accessory, and never worn it or never given it away? I admit that I am guilty of such habits, because sometimes they almost
make classify you as a hoarder. A hoarder? *shrieks* Who, me? Never! Well, I tend to think that, even though your wardrobe, like mine, might seem to be falling apart or bursting at the hinges, sometimes it could be a little hard to let go of those pieces you know you’ll wear at some point in future. Or better yet, re-work older pieces and get them to work for you in newer and more stylish ways. Lord knows I bought the earrings and sweater in today’s outfit almost 2 years ago and have never come around to wearing them until 2016. Funny how things work out.
Now, you all know my obsession with pencil skirts, and today’s skirt is the perfect example of an item that has been reworked. You know, as a bigger woman, sometimes thigh chaffing gets too real. You find yourself wearing your favourite pair of jeans maybe twice to three times a week, and the fabric at the part where your thighs rub starts to wear thin until it finally decides to tear? That’s what happened to these jeans, so I decided to get them reworked into a pencil skirt. Cool, right? And the best thing is that it fits like a glove. Ladies and gents, great style doesn’t have to be expensive. Work with what you have and make it werk for you!
Keeping it short and sweet today. Have a great weekend loves. It will probably be a busy one for me.
