Clothing is ultimately the suit of armor in which we battle the world.”

I’ve been living in such a happy and positive bubble this week, I really don’t want it to end. I have a girlfriend that I always run to whenever I’m feeling low about my life and how I struggle to find that whole work/life balance, whilst trying to blog consistently and have somewhat of a social life… You know, I want to be that girl that seems like they have as many hours in the day as Beyoncé. Anyway, so my girlfriend and I always encourage each other and tell one another that we should strive to want more from life, to live more, to love more, to feel more. That sometimes, most of the time, we stop living at some point and just start existing. So we both made a point to see the positive in everything, to try and live more, and strive towards achieving our dreams.
What has the title of this post got to do with what I just said, you ask?
Well, I don’t know about you, but most of the time, my outfits are usually a representation of the mood I’m in, or the ‘role/persona’ that I want to channel. Since my spirits have been pretty up this week, my mood has been inclined towards wearing outfits that sort of make me feel like a power woman. You know, someone like a baddie boss bitch.
Pardon my French. I draw a lot of outfit inspiration from people watching, social media (especially my Pinterest and Instagram), and sometimes outfit ideas pop into my head at the most random moments and I usually make a point of writing them out and trying them on. It gives me such great joy to put outfits together.
With this outfit, all I could think of was being a bad boss lady who’s got her ish together. Truth be told, I wore this outfit to work on Tuesday -even though the outfit was pre-shot- and I got lots of compliments. That even uplifted my mood even more. I definitely think that if this is how my work outfits are going to make me feel, then I’ll probably keep wearing them just to feel good about myself lol. I love outfits that uplift your mood.

Earrings – Charlotte Russe
I’ve been consciously telling myself that every day is just a step closer to living my dreams, and boy has that kind of positive thinking done me a whole lot of good. Even though I feel tired after work, I try to come home and make efforts to work on other projects that will bring me closer to living the live I’m dreaming of. It’s even an added advantage because it’s allowing my skin to relax. I realised my skin breaks out a lot when I’m stressed so my happiness indeed does play a role in my skincare routine.
PS- I haven’t even read the book Girl Boss by Sophia Amoruso but writing this post has definitely made me include it in my reading wish list!
PPS- For those wondering, the coat I’m wearing formerly had sleeves but since the fit was slightly big, I got my tailor to take the sleeves out.
I hope you’re all looking forward to the weekend as much as I am!
