“Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.” – Coco Chanel
I have been (fully) natural since about 2011/2012, and I have worn my hair in so many different ways since. I have had my hair dyed caramel/honey blond and done into baby locks, then decided to grow my hair out for my sister’s wedding. I wore a weave -my first and last- and had my leave out relaxed, while the rest of my hair was natural. *wails* I promised to never allow another relaxer/texturiser to touch my strands again. I decided to grow out the relaxed parts out, and had my hair dyed again, at the beginning of 2013. My hair grew quite long between 2013 and towards the end of 2014, but then it began to feel weaker and I kept toying with the idea of cutting it, and I eventually cut most of it off in March 2015. This was almost a year ago and even though I am in need of a really good trim and shaping, I like the direction my hair is going in.
I have learnt to listen to my hair and get to know what it needs, although there are days when I wish I’d just let someone else handle it. However, in today’s post, I thought I’d share with you guys what I’ve learnt in the few years I’ve been natural.
What have you learnt since going natural?
