Separate but Together | Styling a Suit Using Separate Items From Your Wardrobe

Separate but Together | Styling a Suit Using Separate Items From Your Wardrobe

Is it possible to shop your wardrobe? Yes, yes it is.

If there’s something I love about styling, it is going back into your wardrobe and finding items you hardly wear and pair them with other items of clothing that you wear all the time. For me? It’s a pair of red pants that I bought while in Cape Town earlier this year. I got those pants for myself with the notion that I was trying to move myself away from always wearing jeans, and moving to other types of bottoms, as opposed to wide leg trousers as well.

    Enter red pants.

I first fell in love with these pants when I tried them on in the Foschini store at Canal Walk in Cape Town, and of course I knew I had to have them in another colour so I got a blue pair as well. However, since we are talking about red pants today, I’ll remind you that I styled a red blazer on my blog sometime last year (blogposts here and here for reference). So one random Saturday after filming a lookbook, it dawned on me that I owned a red blazer and a red pairs of pants, so why not wear them together and see how they turn out?

Well, internet friends, I was quite happy with the result! The shades of red are slightly different, which I don’t really mind but I was super happy and excited by the result so I decided to take a couple of self portraits to share. I love it! I never wear red except lipstick so imagine me marvelling at my genius in putting this outfit together? Wow, Anita, wow.

The t-shirt is from The Fix (South Africa); pants are from Foschini; chucks are Converse, earrings from Wardrobe Banter and blazer from the Woolworths sale last year.

I’d love to share more on this, so will whip up some content focused on this for the near future.
